A half hour drive and 64 km far from Gabbiano Azzurro Hotel & Suites, Posada is a small pearl worth to be discovering.

The town rises on a hill culminating with the tower of the Castello della Fava and vaunts ancient history, being one of the oldest inhabited Sardinian centres.

In the Punic era of Roman colonization, from 238 BC it was a centre of commercial exchanges between Olbia and the interior as evidenced by the findings, of the mid-twentieth century in the Gulf of Posada, of marble and bronze statues, most likely to furnish, before the ships carrying them sank, the houses of the Romans who resided there as rulers. The Romans called it Pausata, which means "placed at the outlet of the river".

After the Western Roman Empire fall (476), Sardinia was Vandali and Bizantini’s territory and during the period of the Giudicati, records on Pausata are available when the Castello della Fava was built in the 12th century, erected to defend its uncomfortable position on the borderline between the Giudicato of Arborea and the one of Gallura.

Posada name appears for the first time in the papal bull of Urban II in 1095.

The malaria, due to the many stagnant areas, together with the high taxes claimed by the rulers, caused the depopulation of the country around 1345. At the end of the last Sardinian Giudicato, the Arborea one in 1410, it became a Barony, but the barons did not take much care of their fiefdom for which banditry ruled at its utmost in the area.

The Barony of Posada was the last fiefdom to be retrieved by the Savoy, around 1860.

Posada area was partly reclaimed after the Second World War but progressively gave out its territories to the municipalities of San Teodoro and Budoni, which invalidated them to participating in the Sardinia tourism boom in the sixties and seventies.

Posada, however, made an effort to autonomously remedy to the scarcity of services, and today it is an excellent holiday destination.

In the last decades has recovered its precious historical centre well representing the ancient original medieval village and allowing it to participate, with Castelsardo and Atzara to "The Romantic Night of the most beautiful villages in Italy - the white night of lovers", on June 23rd, which involves the historical centres of 200 most beautiful boroughs in Italy, rich in natural, historical, artistic and cultural wealth. An evening dedicated to feelings and emotions.
