Discovering the beauties of northern Sardinia
Golfo Aranci is situated on a beautiful seaside, 20 km from Olbia’s airport and just few kilometers from the well-known towns of Porto Rotondo and Porto Cervo, tourist destinations of several VIP hanging around the Costa Smeralda.
The fishermen’s town is a strategic place to choose for the summer holidays and a perfect starting point for stunning day-tour by car:
Barbagia, located in the Sardinian inland, is a stunning place where you can find culture, traditions, Sardinian cuisine and a lot more.
Castelsardo is one of the most characteristic town of the northern part of Sardinia. It’s built at the hill peak, in front of the sea, a legacy of its medieval past, when it was used as a fortress. The old village must be visited for its history and beauty, as well as the old “Doria Castle” with its museum.
Alghero is a Catalan city on the west coast of Sardinia. A visit to the city centre is well worth it, with few shops, restaurants and boutiques.
The Nettuno Cave offers a wonderful view of old geology formations and it’s only accessible via sea or going down the 634 steps carved in the rocks. Nearby the city, there are several archeological sites (i.e Anghelo Ruju’s Necropolis and Palmasera’s nuraghic site) and famous wineries such as Sella & Mosca.
Santa Teresa, Capo Testa and Corsica: a lovely day to be spent on the very northern part of Sardinia, where the sea meets the rocks with extreme intensity. Here the force of nature is just unbelievably beautiful. A daily ferry links Sardinia to Corse in just 45 minutes. An early booking is always advisable.
Bonifacio with its white cliffs welcomes the tourist arriving from Sardinia. It’s a nice little town with fine and elegant buildings and a tourist port. Just one thing, you are not in Italy anymore! You’re now in France, with another language, different culture and habits, Brasserie, Bar with Terrace and Baguettes in the Boulangerie.
Costa Smeralda: the nearest and most famous tour, with the presence of several international VIPs.
La Maddalena Archipelago and Caprera: both with car access and several daily ferries departing from the port of Palau.
A must see on the Caprera island is the Museum of Giuseppe Garibaldi, our Risorgimento hero, who fought against the foreign invaders, unifying the Nation under one flag.
Boat tours in Golfo Aranci: without a doubt, the most beautiful to try! Visitors can take a tour with a Rubber Dinghy, with boats that carry 6-15 people or more than 200, sailboats or luxury Yachts. A great variety for any kind of price range.
One of the most popular tour is the Dolphins one, departing from the Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro’s jetty. During the tour a cocktail will be served on board, everything surrounded by a red sunset light and a lovely family of dolphins that live free in this clear and pristine waters.
