The PNRR Relaunch Plan for the Ulassai’s Borough

The relaunch plan for Italian villages envisaged by the PNRR, presented to the Ministry of Culture by the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini, envisages 21 pilot projects (one village per region) to which the investment of 20 million euros each will be directed.

In Sardinia, the relaunch of the Ulassai’s  Borought in Nuoro’s province, 203km away from the Gabbiano Azzurro Hotel & Suites, has been planned, three hours by car, where nature meets art. Consolidate the knowledge of Maria Lai & the art of threads artistic heritage and the environmental landscape of the Tacchi (heels) that occupy a large part of the Ogliastra area. The name derives from the typical conformation similar to a shoe heel of the local dolomitic limestone mountains. On the Tacchi, there are numerous typical and exclusive species of animals and plants of the territory and you can visit the numerous remarkable Nuragic settlements and the beautiful hollows of Su Marmuri Ulassai and Gairo Taquisara.

The proposal, as highlighted by the minister, takes the form of 38 initiatives including interventions in the tourist accommodation sectors, support for the economy, services for outdoor sports, electric mobility, enhancement of the natural, cultural and artistic heritage, territorial supervision, organisation of cultural events and territorial liveliness. Digital innovation is the transversal guideline for all interventions to transform proposing Ulassai as a smart community. Various interventions are then dedicated to young people and families, with actions on schools and on the educational offer.

The project that not only wants to recover the historical and artistic heritage of the borough but also wants to identify the possibility of its repopulation, focusing on a tourist project, on hotels, on a scheme linked to broadband, included in the project of the total digitization of all 21 boroughs.

FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano, will collaborate for two days, on the 28th and the 29th of May 2022, together with all the municipalities to make these places visitable and discoverable.
