Olbia Seafront

The new Olbia’s seafront is today a city pride that has redefined its urban image with the redevelopment of the seafront after a long and troubled restyling.

For the guest of the Gabbiano Azzurro Hotel & Suites, Olbia, just 18 km away, offers the experience of very interesting cultural sites, a pleasant and rewarding experience that can be completed with a drink and delicious finger food at the tables of the bars. outdoors on the seafront, named after Francesco Cossiga.

An area that was previously only frequented by the inhabitants of Olbia and which today has become a welcoming living room that expands and beautifies the city for tourists among large green spaces and cycle-pedestrian paths to be experienced in the open air.

For an interesting walk, you can start from Mario Cervo Park towards the Mogadishu canal, skirting Piazza Crispi, entering Viale Redipuglia, and continuing to the parking lots and Molo Brin,  overlooked by the Archaeological Museum.

Nearby is the beautiful ferris wheel: "La Maestosa" is the name given to Olbia’s Big Ferris Wheel, 36 meters high, with 26 cabins, one of which is a "vip" (which can be rented for an aerial drink) and one dedicated to those with disabilities. The tour of the wheel lasts 10 minutes and offers a beautiful view of the Gulf of Olbia and in the evening, when it is all lit up, it is really very suggestive. After you arrive at the roundabout of Via dei Lidi, continuing to walk you will reach the Marina of Tilibbas. The walk takes about 40 minutes for a total of almost 3 km.

In Crispi Square there is a fountain, water jets rise from the floor which at night become coloured thanks to a play of lights.

Let's not forget "The jungle tree" which is the first thing you immediately notice in the new waterfront: the steel tree from which the ropes-lianas are lowered. A vertical gym for sportsmen who want to exercise outdoors.

The square is paved with granite, as is the pavement of the sidewalk of via Craxi. In the Cossiga promenade and in viale Redipuglia some “wave” granite cobblestones have been inserted, inspired by the Copacabana Avenue. Finally, the seaside promenade which is entirely made of wood.

Last but not least, the children's area in via Redipuglia which was donated by the Lions Club. It can be used by all children, even those with disabilities.

After the walk, let's sit at a table and order a Sardinian Beer, maybe an Ichnusa, and an The Octopus’ Sandwich: they could complete our beautiful experience on the pleasant Olbia seafront!

“I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see”. John Burroughs
